Consultant Microbiologist

We are seeking a Consultant Clinical Microbiologist to cover a 1-year maternity leave contract, commencing 1st April 2025.

The position involves working across multiple hospitals within the West and North West region.

Contract Details:

• Duration: 1-year locum (maternity leave cover)

• Weekly Commitment: 37 hours per week

• Locations:

  • Galway University Hospitals (GUH) - 19 hours/week

  • Portiuncula University Hospital (PUH) - 12 hours/week

  • Roscommon University Hospital (RUH) - 6 hours/week

• Work Arrangements: The post is based primarily at GUH, with on-site attendance at PUH on alternate weeks (one day) and monthly attendance at RUH

• Team Structure: The successful candidate will work as part of a team of 7 WTE Consultant Microbiologists, supported by 3 Specialist Registrars (SpRs), ensuring 24/7 microbiology service coverage across all sites

• Competitive salary of €226,681 - €272,289 per year High net take-home pay, ranging from €9,000 - €12,000 per month after taxes

• Specialist qualification in Pathology - Microbiology from an EU country (Irish Medical Council registration required - support available for this process)
• At least 1 year of experience as a specialist in Pathology - Microbiology
